The owner, management and staff of Intercape would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the local authorities and community for the help and assistance provided following the bus accident that took place on Thursday the 8th of May 2014.
We thank all the local authorities and emergency personnel who responded so quickly after the accident was reported. Our thanks go to Mr Booysen who took charge of the medical procedures at the scene, and Warrant Officer Martin Le Roux who led the Police procedures.
Medical staff at various hospitals were most supportive towards the injured patients and their families. Our sincere appreciation goes to Sister Wiese from Oudtshoorn Medi Clinic, and the trauma counsellors who assisted there. At the Oudtshoorn Provincial Hospital, Sisters Marais, Fourie and Ndende were most helpful, as well as the hospital Superintendent Dr Paul Rüschenbaum, and counsellor Joyce Modikwe. The kitchen staff’s kind support was also greatly appreciated. At the George Provincial Hospital, Mr Vonk was most helpful, as was Sister Jackie Boukes from Life Knysna Private Hospital. Oudtshoorn’s Deputy Mayor arranged food parcels for the day following the accident which were highly appreciated. Allen Hector and Fizal Visser efficiently assisted with all the paperwork and procedures at the Oudtshoorn Mortuary.
To each and every person who rendered their assistance, support and guidance, in whatever form, thank you.
We are humbled and inspired by the professionalism and efficiency displayed by all involved in the post-accident operations. In such a time of crisis, it is encouraging to be able to rely on competent authorities and a caring community.
