Intercape confirms an incident in which one of its coaches was petrol bombed in Strand,

outside Cape Town, on Tuesday evening. We have been informed that, tragically, two passengers died in the attack and 5 passengers were hospitalised. Other passengers received medical attention as well as counselling and were transported to their choice of destination.

The incident is being investigated and the motive for this horrendous attack is not yet clear. There appears to have been no unrest in the area at the time.

Intercape griefs this incident together with the families and friends of those affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved.

We wish to express our gratitude to Emergency Services, SAPS and members of the community for their prompt action and to the passengers on the coach for their support at the scene.

Intercape calls on all Law Enforcement Agencies as well as Local, Provincial and National Government to take the necessary measures to ensure the arrest of those responsible for this incident.
